Yiwu: the Next Station for French Import Trade
As an important destination country for Yiwu’s exported textiles, France occupies a decisive position in Yiwu’s export trade. While under the vigorous expansion of Yiwu’s import trade, some exotic products, such as red wine and perfume from France gradually show in Yiwu market.
According to the statistics, by the end of 2014, France has set 2 representative offices and 4 partnership enterprises in Yiwu with 26 resident foreign businessmen and 3,477 person-times of temporary entry. In 2014, the total export to France from Yiwu is USD 76.5175 million with a year-on-year increase of 17.69%, while the total import is only USD 0.52 million. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and China in 2014, The Medium and Long-term Plan of China-France Relationship Development was signed to focus on the exploration of new economic and trade cooperation field and make the bilateral relations transform from “Luxury, Large, Level up” to “Handy, Affable and Available”. The vigorously developing import trade combined with the timely policies of both countries also creates conditions for France to develop import trade with Yiwu.
In recent years, the development of import trade between France and Yiwu has gained numerous periodical successes. From March to April this year, many French companies and business representatives come to Yiwu to investigate import business and felt optimistic about the prospect of the import trade in Yiwu. The French government is currently encouraging the domestic enterprises to enter into Chinese market, while Yiwu will play an indispensable role therein.
