Yiwu Supports Ningxia to Create China-Arab States Trade Base
On the afternoon of September 10th, Zhu Min, Chairman of Zhejiang China Commodities City Group Co., Ltd.delivered a keynote speech of “Relying on One Belt and One Road, Implementing the ‘Going Out’ Strategy” at the Online Silk Road Forum of China-Arab States Expo, aiming to create Ningxia to be the base and platform for trade between Yiwu and Arab states.
As the largest commodities wholesale base in the world, Yiwu China Commodities City exports goods to 219 countries and regions, and makes transactions with all LAS members. In 2013, exports to Arab states accounted for 26.78% of the total exports of Yiwu. In 2014, this figure rose to 27.21%, involving more than RMB 100 billion. In two years after emerging e-commerce, more than 200,000 domestic and overseas e-merchants emerged in Yiwu markets. Today, more than 350,000 cross-border express packages are delivered from Yiwu to the rest of the world every day, which is only less than that from Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Meanwhile, Zhejiang China Commodities City Group Co., Ltd. has established an Imported Commodities Mall where many Arabian merchants sell carpets, handcrafts and Halal food from Arab states. As far as we know, 19 LAS members have set up nearly 800 offices in Yiwu, with more than 5,000 long-staying Arabians in Yiwu. It has been the largest Arabians gathering place in China and become their “second hometown”.
As the “One Belt and One Road” strategy is being implemented, Ningxia becomes an important strategic point of China-Arab states trading. Zhejiang China Commodities City Group Co., Ltd. caught this opportunity and established the first sub-market of Yiwu commodities market in Northwest China. The first phase has been completed and the second phase is ready to be constructed with a view to create Ningxia to be the base and platform for trade between Yiwu and Arab states.
